Baby Growth Checker (Weight & Length, 0–12 months)

This baby growth checker uses approximate reference ranges for weight and length from birth to 12 months, for boys and girls. It compares your baby’s measurements with typical ranges for their age, but it does not calculate official growth chart percentiles or provide a diagnosis. Always discuss your child’s growth with a pediatrician or other healthcare professional.

Check your baby’s growth

Enter your baby’s age in months, sex, weight and length. The tool will compare these values with typical ranges for that age and explain whether they fall below, within or above those ranges.

This tool is for educational use only. It uses approximate reference values and does not calculate official WHO or CDC percentiles. Only a healthcare professional who reviews full growth charts and your baby’s medical history can interpret growth accurately or diagnose a problem.

How this baby growth checker works

The calculator uses approximate ranges for weight and length (minimum, average and maximum) for each month from birth to 12 months, for boys and girls. After you enter your baby’s age, sex, weight and length, it:

  • Converts values to kilograms and centimetres if needed
  • Finds the typical range for that age and sex
  • Shows whether your baby’s measurements are below, within or above that range
  • Highlights whether they are on the lower side, around the average or on the higher side of the typical range

Even when a baby’s measurements fall outside a typical range, it does not automatically mean something is wrong. Some babies are naturally smaller or larger than others. Growth needs to be interpreted over time, using official growth charts and a full medical assessment.

Baby growth – Frequently asked questions

Does this tool show official growth chart percentiles?

No. This tool uses approximate reference ranges based on common growth standards, but it does not calculate exact WHO or CDC percentiles. Only your child’s healthcare provider can plot your baby’s measurements on official growth charts and interpret the percentiles.

What if my baby is below or above the typical range?

Being slightly below or above a typical range may still be normal for your baby, especially if they have always followed a similar pattern and are otherwise healthy. If you are worried about weight gain or length, talk to your pediatrician or family doctor.

How often should I check my baby’s growth?

Healthcare providers usually check growth at regular well-baby visits (for example at 1, 2, 4, 6, 9 and 12 months). You can use this tool between visits as an educational guide, but it does not replace professional growth monitoring.

Is it normal for growth to slow down or speed up?

Growth is not always perfectly steady. There can be periods of faster growth and slower growth. What matters most is the overall pattern over time. Your healthcare provider can explain whether your baby’s growth pattern looks reassuring.

When should I seek medical advice about my baby’s growth?

You should contact a healthcare professional if you are worried about your baby’s feeding, weight gain, length, energy levels or development. Trust your instincts – if something does not feel right, it is always appropriate to ask for help.
